Our Fleet

Our fishers are some of Canada’s most experienced in the industry and come from generations of people who have built the local industry.

We utilise a modern fleet of both inshore and offshore vessels within the 25ft-100ft+ range, equipped with 21st century technology for harvesting and processing.

Our company aims to maintain the utmost effort for sound environmental and sustainable harvesting operations. We work with our harvesters, staff, and partners to achieve our sustainable harvesting goals and ensure our fleet is equipped to meet these goals.

Our Fleet:

Our offshore vessel, the Northern Osprey III fishes the Labrador coastline up to as far North as Baffin Bay for Coldwater Shrimp.

Our mid-shore vessels, the Nain Banker and the Belle Isle Banker primarily sail and fish in the Northern Labrador – Nunavut region for Greenland Halibut.

Our inshore vessels (less than 65ft boats) harvest along the Coast of Labrador up to Northern Labrador for a variety of species.

NORTHERN OSPREY III

The pride of our offshore fleet – This state-of-the-art Shrimp fishing vessel is operated by the fishers of MV Osprey Ltd.

The Northern Osprey III is a full factory freezer trawler with the capacity of catching, processing, packaging, and freezing Shrimp onboard the vessel, ready for market. Their catches are distributed to markets in Japan, China, and Europe by Sirena Group in Denmark.

Built 2017 at the Tersan Shipyard, Turkey.

NAIN BANKER

The Nain Banker is part of our mid-shore fleet, with a primary harvest region within Northern Labrador – Nunavut.

This vessel was originally built by the Newfoundland and Labrador Government and eventually sold to the private sector and continues to fish for Greenland Halibut.

BELLE ISLE BANKER

Sister ship to the Nain Banker, the Belle Isle Banker is also part of our mid-shore fleet, with a primary harvest region within Northern Labrador – Nunavut.

SMALL BOAT FISHERY

The Inshore (small boat) Fishery within the L’anse au Clair to Cartwright region involves approximately 130 boats and 500 fishers, harvesting cod, herring, capelin, Greenland halibut, snow crab, whelk, scallops, halibut and shrimp.

This fleet remains an integral part of our operation, and is important to the local communities of Southern Labrador.
