Community operations of LFUSCL are considered the lifeline of the coastal communities of Labrador. Company operations have expanded over the past 40 years, with millions of dollars in new infrastructure. Current operations include a mix of processing facilities in 5 Labrador communities. The Company services more than 500 fish harvesters and employs approximately 600 employees.

We pride ourselves on the production of some of the world’s premium fish products and continue to invest in new technologies within our processing facilities. These technologies help to maintain advanced production and strengthen the LFUSCL’s position within the fishing industry and global marketplace.

L’ANSE AU LOUP FACILITY

L’anse au Loup has operated since 1981 and continues as a major economic fixture within the Labrador Straits region.

These facilities include a multi-species processing plant, a cold storage warehouse, a local sales office, and LFUSC’s head office.

MARY’S HARBOUR FACILITY

The Labrador Fishermen’s Union Shrimp Company Ltd. has operated in Mary’s Harbour since 1986. With construction of a new plant in 2014, it is the Company’s newest facility and produces approximately 2 million lbs. of Snow Crab annually.

Additionally, LFUSCL has just completed construction of a new Salt Cod Facility in the same community, investing in our future as cod stocks continue to rebound.

In this small community of approximately 400 residents, the Labrador Shrimp Company is the largest employer and contributor to the local economy.

PINSENT’S ARM FACILITY

The Labrador Fishermen’s Union Shrimp Company Ltd. has operated in the small community of Pinsent’s Arm since 1994, producing Whelk and Scallops.

Pinsent’s Arm is located on the south side of St. Michael’s Bay, approximately 20 km southeast of Charlottetown. This community has been settled year-round since the late 1950s and has a population of 50 residents.

CHARLOTTETOWN FACILITY

The Charlottetown processing facility has operated since 2001.

Serves as one of the company’s primary facilities for processing of premium North Atlantic Cooked and Peeled Shrimp, and the town’s primary employer. Annual production totals 5-10 million pounds depending on available quotas in any particular year.

CARTWRIGHT FACILITY

LFUSC has operated in Cartwright since 1982.

Although the Cartwright facility has a history of processing a variety of species, its primary production now focuses on Crab. Producing some 1.5 million pounds of snow crab annually, this plant provides some of the world’s favourite Crab meat to the marketplace.
